First Aircraft Arrival F-35A "LIGHTNING II"

Thursday, October 31st, 2019 Together with around 2500 guests: Soldiers, veterans, VIP, local residents, politicians and other dignitaries,
we were awaiting the arrival of the first operational F-35 "LIGHTNING II" at Leeuwarden Airbase.

Earlier this day the F-009 had taken off from Cameri Airforce base in Italy where the european F-35 are assembled

1428Lt......The take-off of the Hawker Hunter F.6A G-KAXF/N294 of the Dutch Hawker Hunter Formation flown by
former F-16 pilot Jan "SKEET" Dam enroute to the holding area near Burgum / Sumar to join the formation,
during the formation with the participating aircrafts.

"BULLDOG2" one of two Volkel F-16s had a technical issue during there mission in the Delta's. "BULLDOG2" tried to solf the problem, after
running the checklist. But the problem 'smoke in the cockpit' stayed, so the pilot decide to declare a emergency, "BULLDOG1&2" where enroute
to Leeuwarden Airbase what caused a delay for the FAA F-35 flyby.

The firebrigade who was on standby for the traditional 'water saluut' was alarmed went quick to the runway to assist.
"BULLDOG2" was safe landed (1502Lt) and the escorting "BULLDOG1" went rtb to Volkel airbase.
