Fate: After the attacks on the target at Emden, the bomber was probably noticed in the sector of the German radar post "TIGER" on Terschelling, and send an night-fighter from the 6.NJG.2 "Fliegerhorst" Leeuwarden flown by OBLT Ludwig Becker and Uffz. Josef Straub. The Pilot of the night-fighter Ludwig Becker intercepted the Wellington and fired with his cannon and Machine gun on the tail turret, killing Rear Gunner Sgt W. Rutherford, while the second burst of fire hit the forward gun turret and astrodome, wounding Flight Sgt Groves and killing Co Pilot Sgt Fowler. The damaged Wellington made a crash-landing on the beach near Paal20, at the east side of the "Boschplaat" Terschelling.
