 Weapons Instructor Course (WIC)2024
"SI VIS PACEM, PARA BELLUM"
The Weapons Instructor Course (WIC) (Former FWIT) is the training to become a weapons instructor. The training lasts more than 6 months.
The Students and the Instructor Pilots (IP) are the most talented and experienced (4)F-16, (6)F-35 pilots also MQ-9 (1)Pilots and (1)System operators,
(2)Patriot Operators, (10)Intell officers and (5)Air Battle Managers are allowed to follow the training. Participants in 2024 will come from Belgium,
the Netherlands and Norway. WIC takes place from May 3rd to November 8th.
It is organized by the 323 Air Combat Development Center (ACDC) the knowledge center of the Air Combat Command (ACC).
The 323 ACDC develops, tests and trains tactics, procedures and concepts with the ACC's weapon systems.
The seven-month course consists of three flying phases:
AIR-TO-AIR phase
AIR-TO-GROUND (SURFACE) phase
MISSION EMPLOYMENT phase
The Air-to-Air phase will be from June 24 until July 7 at Řrland, (ENOL), Norway
The air-to-air phase, begins with basic fighter maneuvers (BFM), --> air combat maneuvering (ACM),
If the Students have successfully completed this phase.
The next phase starts with --> tactical intercepts (TI),--> finally by air combat training (ACT).
After this period there will be a holiday stop until August 26th.

AIR-TO-GROUND (SURFACE) PHASE:
The "Air-to-Ground" (Surface) phase begins at September 02th until September 17th.
the "Air-to-Ground"(Surface) phase begins with --> basic range missions --> basic surface attack --> and by opposed surface attack.
The dropping of "Live" and Dummy bombs during the "Air-to-Ground" (Surface) training practiced will be at various shooting ranges with JTAC teams
for example at the Vliehors "Cornfield" range at Vlieland, the Netherlands. For the final phase to combine all the learned lessons

Mission times:
During the WIC2021 the students and their Instructors will make 2 waves a day
besite the regular flying Program of the Leeuwarden based F-35's (RNLAF F-16's until July 5th.)
Large Force employment exercise:
"END EX"
The "Mission Employment"phase begins at October 28th. until November 8th also with "Night-ops"
The students end with the Large Force employment exercise. The emphasis is on expanding leadership qualities.
To do this, the trainees are put in charge of large formations of different types of combat and support aircraft in total more then 50 aircrafts participating.
This gives them experience in planning, executing and evaluating major flight operations.

There will be the "Graduation ceremony", where the
successful students will receive their patch (sleeve emblem below),
during the "PATCHNIGHT".
After this Grauation ceremony the Weapons Instructor Course 2024 edition will officially come to an end.
